Liebe Unterstützer*innen,

wir melden uns mit guten News zurück.

Seit wenigen Wochen brummt die Produktion der tex—lock Schlösser. Die fleißigen Mitarbeiter*innen verarbeiten Rolle für Rolle und Farbe für Farbe. Wir produzieren eine Variante (Farbe und Länge) nach der anderen. Auf diese Weise gewährleisten wir einen sehr effizienten Produktionsprozess. Leider können wir die Schlösser mit dieser Methode nicht chronologisch nach dem Zeitpunkt Eurer Unterstützung versenden, können andererseits aber auch nicht unendlich viele fertige tex—lock Seile und U-Locks bei uns lagern, so dass es alle gleichzeitig bekommen – wir hoffen auf Euer Verständnis.

In Kürze kommen die Verschlüsse und unser Verpackungsmaterial an und wir beginnen sofort mit dem Versand per DHL. Einen differenzierten Zeitplan, findet ihr mit dem Versandstart im nächsten Update.

Falls Eure Freunde, Nachbarn oder Eurer Hund anschließend auch Gefallen an tex–lock finden, könnt ihr sie gerne auf März „vertrösten“. Denn dann wird es tex–lock wieder online und im regulären Handel zu kaufen geben. Einen kleinen Vorgeschmack aufs tex–lock um die Vorfreude zu steigern und einen exklusiven Blick hinter den „Eisernen Vorhang“ findet ihr untenan.

Dear supporters,

We are getting back to you with good news. For a few weeks now, the production of tex–lock has been booming. The diligent employees are processing role for role and color for color. We produce one variant (color and length) after the other. By this we discovered a very efficient production process. Unfortunately we can not send the tex–locks chronologically according to the time of your support with this method neither can we store all pre-orders and ship them at once so that everyone gets them at the same time - we hope for your understanding.

We are thrilled to announce that soon you will be able to ship via DHL. You’ll find a confirmed schedule in the next update. If your friends, neighbors or your dog then get crazy over tex-lock, you are welcome to announce our regular sales start (online and at German bike shops) in March.

A little sneak peak of tex-lock and an exclusive look behind the “Iron Curtain” to increase the anticipation can be found below.

Eine Reise von tausend Meilen beginnt mit dem ersten Schritt. (Chinesisches Sprichwort) 

Im vergangenen Jahr haben wir nicht nur diesen ersten Schritt gemacht, sondern gefühlt bereits die tausend Meilen zurückgelegt - Ihr habt uns dabei auf Schritt und Tritt begleitet und unterstützt, was sich wie eine gemeinsame Tandemfahrt anfühlt!   

Wir möchten diese Gelegenheit nutzen, um all unseren Unterstützern zu danken, die nicht aufgehört haben, an uns und an tex—lock zu glauben. Vielen Dank dafür!

Es kommt Leben in die Bude!

Im letzten Update haben wir euch den Produktionsraum gezeigt, seit diesem Monat ist dieser nun auch belebt! Peet, Martin, Christin und Pieter sind unsere WoManPower und werden die tex-locks in unserer Manufaktur zusammensetzen.

Während die Prozesse in der Produktion unter der Leitung von Peet optimiert werden, kümmert sich Christin zusätzlich um die passende, ansprechende Verpackung für den Versand und Martin richtet die Produktionssoftware ein, die uns den Überblick behalten lässt.

Die einzelnen tex-lock Teile kommen zu uns – manchmal werden sie wie geplant angeliefert und manchmal unter vollem Körpereinsatz geholt: Die erste Fuhre schwarzes Seil haben wir selbst ins Auto gewuchtet, so dass wir endlich das Montieren üben konnten.

Die anderen Farben sind noch bei der Imprägnierung. Hier muss jede Garnfarbe einzeln behandelt werden, damit die schmutz- und wasserabweisende Außenlage des tex—locks auch gut funktioniert. Aber auch diese werden bald eins nach dem anderen bei uns in der Produktion ankommen, so dass wir die ersten tex-locks komplett montieren, einpacken und dann wie versprochen Anfang 2018 verschicken können.

Um uns noch besser auf die Produktion konzentrieren zu können, wurde der Vorbesteller-Shop heute geschlossen. Tex-lock gibt es für alle anderen dann erst wieder im März in unserem eigenen Onlineshop oder im Fachhandel.

Dear supporters,

It’s getting pretty lively at tex-lock!

In the last update we showed you the production room. Since then, it’s been bustling.

Piet, Martin, Christin and Pieter are serving as our WoManPowerand will soon assemble the tex-locks in our manufactory. While Piet is the chief of optimization of the production processes, Christin takes care of the packaging for shipping and Martin takes cares of the production software to help us to keep track of things.

The individual tex-lock parts arrive one by one - sometimes they are delivered as planned and sometimes we will go on a little mission ourselves to retrieve it. Like the recent one hour drive we took, to heave black rope into the car, so that we could finally get to work.

All other colors are still in the early stages of development. Each yarn color must be treated individually, so that the dirt and water-repellent outer layer of the tex-lock works well. But these will soon arrive at our production, one by one, so that we can completely assemble the first tex-locks, wrap them up and then, as promised, send them out in early 2018.

In order to focus even better on the production, the pre-order shop was closed today. Tex-lock will not be available to anyone else until March in our own online shop or specialist bike store.

Bauteile und Bauarbeiten / components and construction works

Liebe Leute, 

Wir wollen euch nicht länger auf die Folter spannen und von neuen Ereignissen berichten. Im August hatten wir beschrieben, dass die Nullserie im Gange ist. Diese Generalprobe haben wir gut über die Bühne gebracht und befinden uns jetzt in der Serienproduktion der Bauteile. 

Wie schon im August gilt heute noch:  Alles läuft gut, aber selten ohne Überraschungen.

Zum Seil: Die ersten Lagen des Seils sind fertig produziert, nun hat der Produzent mitgeteilt, dass er für die hohen Lauflängen eine andere Spule zum aufwickeln des Seils benötigt. Diese Holzspulen müssen nun bestellt werden, um weiter zu arbeiten. Das führt außerplanmäßig zu einer kurzen Verzögerung, die wir bei der Endmontage wieder rausholen müssen. 

 Zu den Ösen: Die Ösen haben wir uns vergangene Woche angeschaut, bevor sie sich auf den Weg zum Beschichten gemacht haben. Das ist der letzte von 5 Fertigungsschritten. Bis auf eine kurze Verwirrung der Spedition, die die Ösen statt ins 50km entfernte Örtchen, mit in die Niederlande genommen hat, ist bisher alles gut gegangen. 

 Zum Aufbau der Produktion: Wie ihr wisst, soll das tex—lock bei uns in Leipzig assembliert, verpackt und versendet werden. Im August wurde uns der anvisierte Produktionsraum leider abgesagt, da die Sanierungsarbeiten an dem Fabrikgebäude nicht rechtzeitig abgeschlossen werden konnten. Nach einer kurzen Panikattacke, sind wir also quer durch die Stadt geflitzt, um eine neue geeignete Location zu finden. 

Wir sind kurzfristig fündig geworden und bauen seit Ende September unseren Produktionsraum aus: Boden neu, Schwellen weg, Lagerregale und Montagetische - die Grundausstattung ist fast fertig. Nun geht es an die Einrichtung der Maschinen und Prozesse. Hier liegt noch einiges an Feintuning vor uns, um eine flüssigen Produktionsablauf zu ermöglichen. 

Drückt uns die Daumen, dass alle Bauteile schnell bei uns eintreffen, denn dann können wir endlich loslegen und ihr die Schlösser in den Händen halten!

  Impressionen unseres Produktionsraums

Dear people,

We do want to make you wait so lets report some news. In August we described that the pilot series is in progress. We have done this rehearsal well and are now in the serial production of the components.

As in August, we can tell: everything is going well, but rarely without surprises.

About the rope: The first layers of the rope are finished, now the producer has indicated that he needs a different reel for winding up the rope for a high running lengths. These wooden coils must now be ordered to continue working. This leads to a short delay, which we have to catch up at the final assembly.

About the eyelets: We looked at the eyelets last week before they went on there journey to the coating. This is the last of 5 production steps. With the exception of a brief confusion of the carrier company, which took the eyelets to the Netherlands instead of the village, 50km away, everything has gone well so far.

About building the production: As you know, the tex—lock is to be assembled, packed and shipped in Leipzig. In August the location we wanted to move in, was unfortunately canceled, as the reconstruction works on the factory building could not be completed in time. After a short panic attack, we are swept across the city to find a new suitable location.

We finally have found a great place and set up our production room since the end of September: ground new, curbs smashed, storage shelves and assembly tables - the basic equipment is almost finished. Now it is about the construction of machines and processes. Here is still a lot of detailed adjustments ahead of us, to enable a smooth production process. Keep your fingers crossed so that all components arrive quickly, because then you can finally hold the locks in your hands!

Was halten denn die Metallteile aus? / How secure are the metal parts?

Jetzt gibt’s was zu sehn.  

Immer wieder tauchen Fragen nach der Festigkeit der Metallteile auf. Die wir wie folgt beantworten: Stahl ist ein alt bewährtes Material. Unsere Ösen aus gehärtetem Stahl kommen einem hochwertigen Kettenschloss gleich. Sie sind nicht ohne weiteres zu bezwingen.

Da Verstehen mit Sehen einhergeht, haben wir euch ein Video gedreht.
